Micro Robot Racer
Regulation
The following two competitions will be held and the total running time will be compared:
a) Straight-line running
b) Slalom running
The competition platform is made of glass with a smooth surface. The outline of the courses for straight-line and slalom running are shown in Figures 1 and 2, respectively.
The size of the robot is limited to less than 10 mm x 10 mm x 10 mm, excluding the connector part of the wiring. Cables for energy supply and control signals are allowed. The size of the robot will be inspected by the judges before the competition.
The time limit for straight-line and slalom running is a total of 2 minutes. However, if the straight-line running cannot be completed within 1 minute, the participant can skip the straight-line running and move on to the slalom running performance.
Figure 1: Course layout for straight-line running.
Figure 2: Course layout for slalom running.
The cable must be held by a cable holder to prevent the robot from being manipulated by the cable's movement. Participants are not allowed to touch the cable during the competition. If a cable holder is not used, the total time taken for the competition will be increased by 25 seconds and considered as the running time.
The following actions will incur a penalty of 5 seconds added to the running time per occurrence:
Touching the robot during the competition.
Manipulating the robot by the cable's movement.
Moving the competition platform or table using the body, etc.
Penalty judged to be appropriate by the referee.
